The Athlete Needs a Coach
You’ve hit a dead end. Are sailing along at the same level, neither improving nor falling flat. You’re not content and unsure how to level up. Your goals are unclear, your future is fuzzy, your potential feels…untapped.
You’re surviving. Yes. But not thriving. There’s a feeling that you could be (and maybe should be) getting more out of life. In this new world we live in, the fast-paced changeable world of continuous improvement, you need an athlete-like mindset. Not a perfectionist mindset. That will take you straight towards stress, overwhelm and burnout – the lethal SOB’s!) But a hopeful mindset, looking for ways to improve and actively becoming your own agent of creation.
That athlete mindset needs a coach. A life coach. A leadership coach. You can say you’re going to do x, y, or z but “a life coach is someone that gets you to do it. They're all about taking massive action. No stories. No B.S. Only action and results. Without a coach, you're only accountable to yourself – and that's the problem for most people. When you're only accountable to yourself, you can come up with stories and excuses of why you didn't do it. With a coach, none of that stuff flies and suddenly you're accountable to another human being, which forces you to show up at a higher level.” (Project Life Mastery)
Bridging the gap from technical expert to leader is honestly one of my favorite things about my job. I’m tirelessly passionate (to the point of obsessed!) about helping people discover who they really are - allowing healthcare executives to uncover, unlock, and unleash their core values to build an unshakable vision that generates success for years to come. And I know it works, because my coaching clients and training participants repeatedly report back higher performance, team engagement and career growth within the following 6 months!
But before you jump on board, beware, leadership coaching is not for the faint of heart. It’s for those who aren’t afraid of a little elbow grease. Those who are willing to put in the work to get the most out of their finite time here on the planet.
Amanda Foust, writing for Huff Post, clarifies the role of a life coach (very similar to what I do, with more pinpointed focus on leadership in the healthcare industry), laying out clearly that you really shouldn’t hire one if you’re looking to be told what to do, never believe your life is “good enough”, hate change, aren’t willing to invest in yourself, or aren’t seriously interested in improving your relationships.
But if you are ready to massively level up and improve the quality of your life, business and relationships, ready to discover your core, build a hi-res vision of your future, and unleash your true potential then I’d love to help you along the way.
